What Size Linen Do I Use?
We often get asked what size linen should be put on each table, so we have made a chart in order to show you how we make that decision. When deciding the size of linen that should be used you have to think about the amount of drop that you want from the edge of the table. Linen should drop around 6-9 inches for a more casual event and should drop around 15 inches for formal events. As you can see from the chart, tablecloth dimensions will usually fit on multiple sizes of tables.
There is a formula in order to find the closest fitting table cloth if your table’s dimensions are not on the chart. First measure the length and width of your table. Next add twice the desired drop to each side’s dimension. For example, if your table measures 42 inches wide and 102 inches long and you want a drop of 5 inches, add 10 inches to each side. The resulting dimensions are 52 x 112 inches. When a table is this size you have 2 different options on linen, you could order a 120 x 52 or a 132 x 90. For a round table, measure the diameter of your table and add twice the desired drop. For example a 60-inch round table with a 15-inch drop would require a 90-inch round tablecloth.
